Revenue seize drugs in Athlone bound for various Irish addresses

Over €5,000 of synthetic cannabinoids have been seized in Athlone.

Revenue officers discovered the drugs contained in parcels at a premises in the town. Just over 254 grams of synthetic cannabinoids were found inside consignments declared as various items such as bath towels, pillows, clothing and food. The parcels originated in the Netherlands, Spain, USA, Thailand and Indonesia, and were destined for addresses in Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Limerick and Wexford. The seizure formed part of a wider operation in various locations which resulted in the seizure of over €300,000 worth of contraband.
