The report suggests extra help for several areas in the region.

The Shannonside region is among the areas that will be prioritised for new refuge spaces.

Cavan/Monaghan and Longford are highlighted as areas of "significant under-provision" in a newly-published Tusla review of accommodation services for victims of domestic, sexual and gender-based violence.

The review has identified ten locations nationwide "where the delivery family refuge spaces would have the most impact if prioritised".

This includes eight family places in Cavan/Monaghan and eight in Longford.

There is currently no dedicated refuge for people fleeing violence across the Shannonside Northern Sound region.

Tusla has committed to engaging with local authorities to source refuge provisions in Cavan/Monaghan, Leitrim, and Roscommon, as well as Offaly and Carlow.
