Normal access will resume when the pump is repaired and refitted.

Waterways Ireland has confirmed that access to Richmond Harbour in Clondra has been reduced due to a water pumping issue in the area.

Concern has been expressed in recent weeks by boat users that they have been unable to access the popular Royal Canal harbour due to Locks being shut.

It has now been confirmed that the pump, which maintains water levels in the harbour, is currently being repaired, and an interim pumping solution operates at lower capacity.

A WI spokesperson has confirmed that lock opening hours have been reduced to 9am to 5pm so that the lockkeeper can be present to control the water levels situation.

Any boater wishing to enter / exit Richmond Harbour can do so by contacting the Lockkeeper and making the passage during those hours.

The lock will return to normal operations once the pump is repaired and fitted."
