Public urged to use new Injury Unit in Mullingar rather than hospital ED

The unit opened earlier this month and has been busy treating people for a variety of issues.

The public is being urged to consider using a new minor injuries unit  in Mullingar rather than attending the Emergency Department at the Midlands Regional hospital.

The Ireland East Hospital group has issued a statement claiming  that since the unit opened earlier this month this has received broadly positive feedback.

However, they claim that some patients are still presenting to the hospital's main ED with minor injuries and patients with minor injuries can be treated within 2 hours at the MIU.   The facility is based at the Charter Medical Private Hospital and  patients who are over 16 years of age, who experience a minor injury can attend the unit 7 days a week:
