The hospital is urging people to consider their care options due to a large number of people presenting to the hospital for medical assistance today

Management at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar are urging the public to consider their care options due to serious overcrowding being reported at its Emergency Department this morning.

According to INMO figures, 20 people are currently waiting for a hospital bed - with the hospital confirming that the ED is extremely busy and delays are being experienced presently. They have confirmed that there are a number of non-Covid-19 patients presenting and they are advising visitors to only attend the hospital ED if absolutely necessary and to not bring children.

14 people are also presenting at the ED at its sister hospital in Tullamore this morning - three at Cavan General Hospital, four in Our lady of Lourdes in Drogheda and 13 in Sligo University Hospital and nine at Portiuncula Hospital as well as eight at UHG.
