Leitrim County Council is to launch a public consultation over the construction of a major walkway project linking Carrick-on-Shannon to Leitrim Village.
Council officials have confirmed that they are currently in the process of appointing Jennings and O'Donovan as design consultants for the project.
The local authority has been allocated funding for the walkway through the Rural New Development Fund, a national 1 billion euro development fund for rural Ireland.
The issue was highlighted by Fine Gael councillor Finola Armstrong-McGuire at this week's meeting of the Carrick-On-Shannon Municipal District.
The Project will see the walkway lead from Carrick-On-Shannonside to Battlebridge outside of Leitrim village, with the public consultation to be launched in the coming months,
