The President of Ireland has paid tribute to the role of Irish Radio during the Covid 19 Pandemic.
In a video address to last night's IMRO Radio Awards, President Michael D Higgins spoke of the 'splendid power of radio'.
He praised broadcasters across the country for providing information and support to the country at a very difficult time.

Shannonside FM won two awards at the IMRO radio awards last night.
The station took home silver for their News At One show in the Local/Regional News Programme category.
The station also won a bronze for its coverage of the farmers' protests last year in the News Story category.
