A new virtual reality app to help children prepare for surgery has been launched at Portiuncula Hospital.
It's hoped the app which is aimed at children between the ages of 3 and 12 will allay anxiety in advance of their hospital stay.
The 'Little Journey' app provides 360 degree views of all the areas the children will visit at the hospital as well as useful information about the anaesthetic, tailored to the age of the child.

It's available to download from the Google Play or App store and will allow the children to meet animated characters and equipment.
Last year the demand for general anesthetic increased in children due to the increase of pediatric day case surgery at the hospital.
