The development is part of a series of investments announced by Waterways Ireland in the past months

It's hoped works to come develop a pontoon at the Red Bridge in south Longford will be complete by the end of the summer.

Waterways Ireland has confirmed that works are due to begin at the famous Ballymahon waterway in the coming months.

The end point of navigation of the River Inny was earlier this year identified for major investment as part of a waterways Ireland masterplan for the region which will include works on a jetty, slipway and car parking facility.

It's hoped that if Covid restrictions continue to ease as expected, works will be complete by the late summer period.
