Plans have been lodged to Longford County Council for a significant expansion of the Middleton House Solar farm near Kilashee.
Harmony Solar Longford Limited has applied for a ten-year permission that would see a solar farm on 34.5 hectares of land near the Village.
The development would consist of 184,500 metres squared of solar photo-voltaic panels on ground-mounted steel frames, a substation and an associated hardstand.
Also included in the plans are 12 inverter/transformer stations on 6 hardstands, underground power cables, boundary fences and CCTV cameras.
The proposed development seeks to form an extension to the adjoining previously permitted "Middleton House" Solar Farm.
County planners are due to make their decision at the end of September.
