Plans for a new Lidl supermarket in south Roscommon have been refused. The German chain applied to Roscommon County Council to build a new store on a 3-acre site in Monksland. A public meeting in support of the development took place last month.
A number of locals and politicians also made submissions in support of the project. Roscommon County Council have yet to publish the reasons for refusing the application.
