Planning permission is being sought for a significant industrial development in Longford.
Blessington Stone and Concrete Plant Hire- Rhine Rock are seeking to develop a large concrete batching plant at Rhine, Killoe in the county.
The proposed plans include the erection of the concrete plant, a processing plant and workshops at the rural Longford site.
Included in the development are office buildings, block yard, storage sheds, wheelwash and a settlement lagoon. According to plans submitted to Longford County Council, the rock for the production would be extracted by means of blasting across an area of 14 hectares.The applicant is also seeking to landscape the site consisting of planted berms around the development, with an entrance and access road proposed from the public road to the manufacturing site.
A 25 year permission is sought for the development including landscaping and restoration of the site on completion of the extractions.
Blessington Stone and Concrete Plant Hire have submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment along with the application, with county planners set to decide in March.
