The permission was refused due to the planning authority's failure to carry out a proper Environmental Impact Assessment

Planning permission has been refused for the construction of wind turbines in Leitrim. The project would have comprised of the development of 8 wind turbines in the area surrounding the townlands of North Leitrim and Carrowmore and Carrownyclowan in south-east County Sligo.

The development also would have included the partial demolition and alteration of two agricultural buildings. The permission was refused due to the planning authority's failure to carry out a proper Environmental Impact Assessment, as well as the applicant's response to the risk of a peat slide, which was deemed to be unsatisfactory.
