Planning permission to demolish Hartley bridge to be lodged in December

The planning permission is to be submitted to An Bord Pleanala in December.

Leitrim County Council is to lodge planning permission for the demotion of Hartley bridge outside Carrick-on-Shannon.

The local authority has indicated that it will build a three-span structure just 25 metres away from the current bridge crossing over the River Shannon.

It also hopes to build roads connecting the L400 to the new structure and decommission the soon to be defunct roads.

The planning permission is to be submitted to An Bord Pleanala in December, and the plans will be available for the public to view from this coming Friday.

Councillor Finola Armstrong McGuire says it's wonderful news for the region.
