Planning permission has been granted for the installation of a 30 metre telecommunications mast in South Longford.
Vantage Towers Ltd had applied to county planners for the construction of the lattice tower to hold antennae, dishes and associated telecommunications equipment.
Plans show the structure will be enclosed by security fencing and extension is proposed to the existing access track.
Arguments against the application were submitted to Longford County Council during the planning process, with locals highlighting an alleged negative effect on local property values, issues with the height of the tower and it's location in the curtilage of a protected structure.
County planners gave the green light to the project with 9 conditions attached.
