A decision is due in March 2023.

A planning objection has been lodged to An Bord Pleanala against a proposed expansion at Center Parcs in south Longford.

Permission was granted by Longford County Council in late September for 198 new lodges, as well as an extension to the holiday firm's spa and sub-tropical swimming pool features.

The €80 million euro project would expand the 300 plus lodges already on site at three different zones within the existing 160 hectare site at Newcastle woods.

The planning application was approved by Longford County Planners with 20 conditions attached.

However, an objection to the development has been lodged to the higher planning body by Sustainability 2050 and PJ Walsh.

It's understood some concerns raised in the submissions relate to waste, water pressure and an increase in the volume of traffic locally. A decision is due on the matter by the March 2nd 2023.
