Planning permission has been granted to extend the operational lifespan of a solar farm in County Roscommon. E.E.P.V 11 Limited had sought to extend the lifespan of the solar farm at Rathleg in Castlerea from 30 years to 40 years. The development will entail a Solar Farm with a generation capacity of 4.2 Mega volt amps, on ground mounted panels, along with an enclosed single storey ESB Terminal Station.
It would also maintain the permitted solar farm structures on site during the extended operational period. The application was approved by Roscommon County Council with four conditions attached, including the payment of an insurance bond worth €25,000 .
