Planning permission has been granted for a Longford supermarket outlet to progress significant renewable energy works.
Dunnes Stores has received the green light for the installation of solar panels at its Dublin Road Store in the town.
The application submitted by Better Value Unlimited Company sought 1,776 square metres of the photovoltaic panels on the roof of its Longford store.

Plans include the panels, mounting systems and all associated site works at the Dublin road site.
In granting permission, Longford County Council have set down six planning conditions.
These include rulings that no advertising be included on the roof top development and that future efficiency works be submitted to county planners.
