Planning permission has been granted for major works at a solar park in Roscommon.
TDC Community Solar Park, located in Bealnamulla, applied to Roscommon County Council seeking a 10 year planning permission to construct a permanent Battery Energy Storage System facility adjacent to the current park.
Included in the application is the provision of 22 battery storage bays each with 8 battery modules connected to 2 inverters per bay and 1 transformer per bay.
Also provided for in the application is a substation unit, storage/office unit, and a control room, along with a new access path and 2 parking spaces.
Roscommon county planners approved the application with 20 conditions attached including that CCTV on site not be directed at adjoining properties and that archaeological monitoring be carried out on site.
