The Fine Gael representative takes over the portfolio having been Minister of State with responsibility for Local Government and Planning for the last two and half years.

The Sligo /Leitrim Deputy Frank Feighan says he knew from the beginning of his term that he was only going to serve in the position until the change of Taoiseach.

Deputy Feighan says it was a privilege and honour to serve the people of Ireland during one of the most challenging public health emergencies in our history.
