Plans for a major housing development in Athlone have been submitted to the higher planning body.
Avenir Homes Limited has applied to construct 127 housing units at Cartrontroy, Lissywollen in the Town.
Plans include 65 houses and 62 apartments along with a creche and associated site works.

Due to the size of the project, it classes as Strategic Infrastructure, meaning it bypasses Westmeath County Council and is considered directly by An Bord Pleanála.
It's the second major housing development in Athlone, with a major 576 unit development greenlit in June.
The higher planning body is due to make their decision on the new application in October.
