A decision is due at the end of August.

Planning permission has been lodged for the demolition of a well known former hotel in Longford.

The Park House Hotel in Edgeworthstown has been closed for a number of years after close to 4 decades in operation.

Mayer Oval Ltd have submitted an application to Longford County Planners for the demolition of the former hotel and out buildings on the town's main street.

Plans put forward for the site include the construction of a mixed use two storey terraced block incorporating a retail/commercial space on ground floor and a 1 bedroom apartment on the first floor.

Also included on the site would be 7 two storey 2 bedroom homes and one single storey two bedroom house.

The application would also include the upgrading of the existing entrance, a proposed internal access road, car parking and bicycle stands.

Longford County Council will issue a decision on the plans at the end of August.
