The Glamping pods were granted planning permission by Longford County Council last month

Planning permission for a new tourist accommodation development in Longford has been appealed to the higher planning body.

Raymond & Ann Brogan had applied to county planners for the provision of 10 prefab glamping pods at the Glebe in Clondra

Plans include the conversion of the existing shed to a communal toilet facility, including accessible toilet and shower room with kitchen, diner, laundry & drying room at ground level.

Also included in the application is the turning of the first floor of the shed to a games room, as well as 13 car parking bays and 16 No. bicycle stands.

While an adjacent school lodged a submission against the plans, Longford planners approved the permission with 18 conditions attached last month.

An appeal has now been lodged to An Bord Pleanála against the development, with a decision due in August.
