Over 3,500 private cars across the Shannonside region have been licensed for the first time so far this year.
The figures come from a recent CSO report.

Roscommon is the county with the highest figure, at 2,753 private cars licensed for the first time from January to the month of April of this year.
Meanwhile, there have been 567 cars licensed so far this year in Longford.
This figure is followed by Leitrim, where 412 cars were licensed in the first four months of 2024.
The data totals to 3,732 cars across the three counties, a 16% increase since last year's quarterly report.
Out of these, 125 are electric cars, a slight decrease from last year's figure of 147 electric cars licensed.
Nationally, a total of 82,438 private cars were licensed for the first time so far this year.
