Over €100,000 in funding announced for regional youth groups

Local Education and Training Boards will see the funding distributed to 12 youth services from the region.

Over €108,000 has been allocated to 12 local youth services across the region as part of a new programme of funding from the Department of Children.

The supports have been allocated to Education and Training Boards in the region as part of the first U.B.U Resilience and Effectiveness Initiative.

The 5 million euro package will be split among 65 youth groups nationally through ETBs across the country.

The Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board is to receive the largest local allocation at €55,092 to be split between 6 youth groups.

€18, 197 is to be split between 2 services through the Longford Westmeath ETB, while the Cavan and Monaghan ETB and the Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim board will each see a figure of €17,500.

The funds are designed to help youth services facing cost pressures, including those that have seen a reduction in services over the course of the pandemic.
