Over 3,000 Covid-19 vaccines administered at regional walk in centres over weekend

The walk-in centres were mainly attended by young adults, with close to 30,000 first doses said to have been administered nationwide over the weekend.

At least 3,000 people got their Covid-19 vaccines at the walk-in clinics across the Shannonside Northern Sound region over the weekend.

Figures from the HSE show from Saturday to Monday, 899 people received their first dose at the Hotel Kilmore in Cavan.

490 people got their first dose over the same period at the Glencarn Hotel in Castleblayney.

The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was administered at each centre.

In the Shannonside region 681 walk-in vaccinations were administered in Bloomfield.

379 were administered at the centre in Athlone, with HSE CEO Paul Reid visiting on Sunday to thank the staff for their work.

Longford's centre saw 411 vaccines given to walk-ins on Friday last.

While 340 people received their first dose in Leitrim during the operation of the walk in centre in Carrick on Shannon.

Around 340 people received their first dose vaccine at the walk-in vaccination clinics at the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon.
