Over 2.4 million euro allocated to local Childcare Committees since 2020

CCCs are a first point of contact for people looking for advice on the childcare industry.

Close to 2 and a half million euro has been allocated to childcare committees in the Shannonside region over the last three years.

The funds are administered by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, with 30 City and county Childcare Committees fully funded last year.

CCCs are the first point of contact for people looking for advice on setting up a childcare business, completing training courses and advising parents on local childcare networks,

2.4 million euro has been allocated to Committees in Longford, Roscommon and Leitrim between 2020 and 2022.

Longford has received the highest allocation over the three years with €865,000 designated for the local CCC.

In 2021, Longford Community Childcare Committee spent almost €234,000 out of an annual grant of €281,000

Next on the list is Roscommon, where €837,000 was awarded from the department to the local committee.

Last year's funding of €277,600 for Roscommon County Childcare Committee saw over €260,000 of it spent in 2021.

€227,247 was spent by the Leitrim CCC in 2021 out of €233,457 in funding, with a total of over €704,000 allocated to the service over three years.
