The homes will get a major refurbishment as part of a government scheme

€4 million has been announced for vacant home works in the local region.

It's part of the government's plan to bring 3,000 council-owned properties back onto the market. 225 local homes are to benefit from refurbishment funding, with Cavan having the most units returned at 86.

52 properties will be brought back on-stream in Longford, and 47 in Monaghan.
