The children from across the Shannonside Region are waiting on appointments with the local CAMHS

Over 100 children who access mental health Services in the Shannonside region have been waiting for over a year

CAMHS provides assessment and treatment for children with moderate to severe mental health problems.

New figures, released under the Freedom of Information Act, show there are 4,175 children on their waiting lists.

In CHO1, which covers Sligo and Leitrim, 38 children are waiting over 52 weeks for an appointment.

However just one child is waiting that time in CHO2 which covers Roscommon-Galway and 80 children waiting for a year in CHo8 which covers Longford and Westmeath.
