Over 100 children waiting on mental health assessments in Roscommon

According to the Saolta Hospital Group referrals to CAMHS are reviewed and prioritised on the basis of clinical necessity.

Over 100 people are currently awaiting appointments with Roscommon child and adolescent mental health services.

Figures provided to Roscommon Councillor Tony Ward by the Saolta Hospital Group show that 108 initial assessments are needed with the local CAMHS.

21 service users have been waiting for the assessment between 6 and 9 months.

A further 44 are on the waiting list between 3 and 6 months, while 43 are waiting under 3 months.

According to the Saolta Hospital Group referrals to CAMHS are reviewed and prioritised on the basis of clinical necessity.

Speaking to Shannonside FM news, Councillor Ward says resolving staffing issues with local mental health services must be a priority:
