The OPW Minister is being urged to finally end plans for putting 1,000 asylum-seekers in tents in Athlone. A row has broken out between Minister Kevin 'Boxer' Moran and four Athlone councillors over the issue. Boxer initially backed their legal action against the state over the issue - but pulled out when he joined government.
He denies he's a hypocrite and says he's still completely against the plan. Councillor John Dolan says Boxer, as OPW Minister, has the power to scrap the proposal:
