There has been a rise nationally.

Just one woman from the Shannonside region travelled to the UK last year to have a pregnancy terminated.

New figures published by the UK government reveal 206 women travelled from Ireland to Britain to access abortion services last year.

The total is up from 194 in 2020, during the height of the pandemic.

No woman who accessed services in the UK had a Roscommon or Leitrim address, while five women reported Westmeath as their place of residence.

775 Irish women have travelled to the UK since abortion was legalised in Ireland in 2019.
