Just one commencement notice for residential housing was issued in Longford last month. Figures from the CSO show just 12 notices were processed in the entire Shannonside region in March 2024. Commencement notices are required for construction or material alterations in a home, shop, office or industrial building.
Six were issued in Roscommon and five were registered in Leitrim last month, some of the lowest results in the country. So far this year, 56 commencement notices for residential units have been processed in Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon.
