A gathering is expected to place place in Creeslough this afternoon to mark a weke since the tragedy

The eighth person killed in the Creeslough tragedy will be laid to rest this morning.

The funeral of Hugh Kelly takes place one week on from the day the explosion claimed the lives of ten people.

59-year old Hugh or Hughie Kelly, is the oldest person who was tragically killed in last week’s explosion in County Donegal.

The Creeslough native who farmed and worked in construction, has been described as a ‘cheery’ man.

His funeral mass takes place this morning at 11am in St.Michael’s Church, Creeslough.

Hughie is the eighth person who’ll be laid to rest in the past 7 days.

His funeral will be attended by President Michael D Higgins, who has been present in the village since Wednesday.

Yesterday President Higgins met those involved in the recovery operation including cocker spaniel Tess and labrador Brodhe from the Search and Rescue Dog Association of Ireland.

It’s believed a gathering will take place in Creeslough this afternoon, to mark a week since the tragedy.
