The Office of Public Works says 13.4 million people visited its heritage sites across the country in 2025.

The scheme generally applies where a solution can be readily identified and achieved in a short time frame.

OPW Minister Kieran O'Donnell has indicated a permanent solution to the Lough Funshinagh crisis, involving an overflow pipe, won't be in place until next year.

Minister O'Donovan hopes the vast majority of the defence measures will be constructed by the middle of next year with a further stretch to be worked on close to Golden Island after that.
