Gerard McGowan said he had hoped the new street improvements would allow for better parking spaces outside his home in the interests of safety

A Newtownforbes resident is expressing his concern and disappointment regarding improvements works in the village over the last 12 months.

Works are due to begin again next week to finish a project which began in the village on the N4 last year.

The scheme has involved footpath and road developments in the village and a 100 metre stretch of the N4 will be resurfaced to complete the project before the end of this month.

Gerard McGowan who lives on the main street says he asked the local authority to try to provide more space for cars to park outside his home so that he could have a better view when entering and exiting his yard.

He says as the road has become busier over the years, the issue of safety has become more of a problem and he had hoped the council would use this opportunity to resolve it.
