A new training course aimed at providing career opportunities in the hospitality sector will begin in Leitrim next week.
The QQI level 5 course is recognised nationally and internationally and will cover modules in food preparation, pastry baking, communications, work experience and safety at work.
The course which funded by the Sligo Leitrim ETB and managed by Leitrim Development Company begins on September 12th next and will run for 49 weeks at the The Food Hub in Drumshanbo.
More information about the course is available on the MSLETB website and Teresa Cullen says the employment opportunities in this area are huge.
"What we're doing is trying to get the people, it's like a starting point, for people to work in a kitchen in a restaurant or in accommodation in hotels or that. So really they can move on their careers from then on. We've had loads of employment in the area for people, depending on whether it's a kitchen, or restaurant, or hotel accommodation they want to move in to."
