New temporary traffic system for Carrick-on-Shannon town centre starts today

The traffic restrictions will last until the end of the month to allow key works take place

Heavy goods vehicles are being diverted away from Carrick on Shannon from today.

A revised traffic management system is being put in place, which will also include the closure of the Main Street/Bridge Street junction to complete paving and other works.

On street parking will be suspended on Quay Road and Quay Street to allow two-way traffic so that access is maintained to St George's Terrace.

The closure of Main Street from the Bush hotel will also remain in place.

The new measures will be in place for next four weeks with local authority promising businesses that all areas will be open throughout June, July and August, with just final minor works being undertaken.
