The Sports Complex in Newtownforbes is to be the location for the Covid 19 vaccination hub for County Longford.
The centre will be formally announced as the venue by Chair of the HSE Midlands Regional Forum and Longford councillor Padraig Brady at this afternoon's meeting of Longford County Council.
It is almost a month since the centre locations were announced by the government and the venue for Longford was not finalised at that stage.
It's understood that HSE had a specific set of requirements including size, adequate car parking, separate entrance and exit points and office space which could not be met at locations in Longford town, Edgeworthstown or Keenagh.
Councillor Brady says that he understands that although the announcement of a location has been delayed, it's now hoped to be fully operational by late April or May:
