A new priest is to be ordained this afternoon for the Diocese of Meath. Bishop Tom Deenihan will ordain Rev Norman Allred at the Cathedral

A new priest is to be ordained this afternoon for the Diocese of Meath.

Bishop Tom Deenihan will ordain Rev Norman Allred at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Mullingar at a special ceremony at three o' clock this afternoon.

Deacon Norman is a native of Salt Lake City in the United States, and he began to think of entering the priesthood after his wife of 24 years died six years ago.

He will continue to be assigned to Mullingar for the moment where he's been performing several duties in recent years.

Bishop Deenihan has revealed the diocese has three other men at various starts of formation of the priesthood at present.
