A negative PCR or professionally carried out antigen test will be needed to fly into Ireland from Friday.

Cabinet has been agreeing updated travel advice amid fears around the new Omicron variant.

There will be further advice for people to reduce their social contacts over the next few weeks.

Ministers are also expected to recommend mask wearing for over-9s or third class and above in schools, shops and on public transport.

Labour's Health Spokesman Duncan Smith says it's welcome, but the Government's communication to parents needs to improve.
