The N55 remains closed this morning following a fatal incident near Athlone.
A motorcyclist was killed following a collision with a car near Tubberclair.
The deceased - a man in his 50s - was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Mullingar Regional Hospital for a post-mortem exam.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are examining the scene this morning, with a diversion in place on the N55 between Athlone and Ballymahon.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time - especially those with dashcam footage - to come forward.
This marks the sixth death on Irish roads since Friday.
