The midlands hospital is reporting another day of significant amounts of patients waiting on trolleys

The Accident and Emergency Department at Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar is urging only true emergency cases to present at the hospital today.

Patients are instead being asked to contact their GPs in the first instance if possible.

The Midlands hospital is recording another extremely busy day with 19 people on trolleys at the facility this afternoon.

According to a hospital spokesperson, the ED is currently treating a large number of non-Covid-19 patients, with visitors advised only to attend the hospital emergency department if absolutely necessary and to not bring children.

Elsewhere in the Region, 10 people are currently waiting for beds at Sligo University Hospital, while 9 people are on trolleys at UHG.

There are 4 people waiting in Tullamore Hospital while there are 2 each waiting on trollies in Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe and Cavan General Hospital.
