Mr Price appeals refusal planning retention for Athlone store

It's the second time in two years the retention has been applied for.

A discount retail chain has launched an appeal over a refusal by Westmeath County Council to permit the retention of a former warehouse as a shop.

CORAJIO Trading as Mr Price sought to retain the use of the former warehouse at Cornamaddy, Athlone for the second time in two years

Plans would include elevation changes to the unit and associated site works at the building.

In originally refusing the application, Westmeath County Council stated the development would draw shoppers outside of Athlone Town centre, adversely impacting on the area's vitality.

An Bord Pleanála will decide on the appeal in September.
