The amount of people killed on Irish roads over the Bank Holiday weekend is a major cause of concern

Motorists are being asked to reduce their speed on the roads and be conscious of other road users.

There have been 32 more deaths on Irish roads this year than at the same point in 2021.

78 people have died in collisions in Ireland following the June Bank Holiday week.

That's more than the number of deaths recorded last year, and more than 2020 and 2019 up until the same point.

Roscommon Longford Garda Inspector Dave Cryan says a reduction in speed makes the roads safer for everyone.
