Motorist due in court over Castlerea taxi incident

A motorist will appear in court following an incident in west Roscommon.

Gardai from the Roads Policing Unit along with the National Transport Authority detected a driver operating for hire or reward without a licence or insurance.

The checkpoint was carried out in the Castlerea and court proceedings are to follow.

All taxis and hackneys operating must be registered and must be licensed as a small public service vehicle with the NTA and the regulator.
