Fiona Fenelon says COVID like supports are needed to keep businesses open.

The Longford Chamber of Commerce President believes the government could have provided more supports for businesses similar to Covid schemes to tackle the rising costs for the small and medium enterprises.

Speaking on the Bottom Line, Fiona Fenelon believes that while energy credits are welcome, all businesses are facing multiple challenges and not just energy costs.

"We want all these businesses to keep their doors open so I would've liked to have seen some more targeted schemes like we saw during covid, whether that's for rate deferrals, tax deferrals, and maybe things like warehousing and haulage costs. That affects all businesses because everyone needs stuff delivered and that's costing more money".
