The meat industry's submission to an Oireachtas committee about its handling of Covid-19 has been described as a work of fiction.

Meat Industry Ireland claims there are no active cases anymore in any meat factory.

The Dáil's Covid committee has been hearing an update on the spread of COVID-19 in meat plants.

This morning Brid McKeown from the Migrants Rights Centre of Ireland said migrant workers in the meat plants are still concerned about their safety.

But Cormac Healy, Senior Director with Meat Industry Ireland, says they have put rigorous safety measures in place.

That was an assertion rejected by People Before Profit TD Brid Smith.

While TD Richard O'Donohue said the evidence given by both parties was entirely contradictory.
