Delays on the Market Square regeneration project in the centre of Longford town are down to waiting for bespoke planter boxes.
Several local residents have been expressing concern at the lack of action in the past week, and a Municipal District meeting was told in recent days that it is on track for completion.
The contractor is said to be waiting for special street furniture to arrive on site before it can be finished off, but in the meantime the workers have started in projects in the shopping centre and Grafton Court area.
Works on the Ballinalee road are also due to be finished in the next six weeks.
Local Independent councillor Gerry Warnock says he understands people’s frustrations with the Market Square project, but he believes the end result will be well worth the wait.
Despite the way it looks at the minute, it is actually at that stage, all the services are in place, it's basically just asthetics at this stage.
The key element here are these boxes and looking at the schematic drawings of what its going to be like after the event it's going to be very very impressive and transformative for that part of town.
