Manorhamilton LEA has highest Covid rate in Shannonside region

The rates of Covid in the various local electoral areas vary from 250 per 100,000 population in the Athlone area of south Roscommon to 1,118 in the Manorhamilton area in Leitrim

The local electoral area of Manorhamilton in Leitrim has the highest 14 day incidence rate of Covid in the Shannonside counties according to the latest figures.

The area had 121 cases in the time period from the 24th of last month until Monday of this week giving it a rate of 1,118.

The next highest rate was found in the Boyle electoral area in Roscommon which had 179 cases over the same time giving it a rate of 818.

The Longford LEA has the highest rate in the county with 80 cases giving it a rate of 749 per 100,000 of population, and that's closely followed by the Granard local electoral area with 80 cases and a rate of 749.

The LEA with the next highest rate locally is the area taking in Roscommon town and surrounds which had 168 new cases over the fortnight , giving it a rate of 739.

The Athlone LEA in south Roscommon has the lowest rate in the Shannonside region with 50 cases and a rate of 250.

Elsewhere the Carrick-on-Shannon LEA, Ballinamore LEA, and the Ballymahon LEA all have rates in the 400's , with 53, 46, and 59 cases respectively recorded over the two weeks leading up to Monday the 6th of September.
